Hi, I’m Kevin.

I’ll be running a session with you this week on play.

New Folk Games

What’s all this then?

I saw a talk by this guy called Danny Hawk about games being created during lockdown and shared through TikTok.

For those who are interested, he writes about it here.

Or, if you’re feeling lazy, you may wish to scroll directly to the funny videos…

The Funny Videos

Check out here for Danny’s playlist on Twitter.

If you’re thirsty for more, Jonny Hopkins has a similar thread here.

So what’s the point of all this?

I think that these new folk games are great examples of adults being playful.

In order to get us thinking about play in preparation for this week’s sessions, you might consider:

a) What qualities are the players showing in these videos ?

b) What is engaging about these videos ? What does your brain do as you watch?

c) Does this offer any insights into why play is good for learning ?

Looking forward to working together this week.

P.S. please link me up with any other new folk games threads you know of…

Have a great day!
